30 Jan Road trip #2: Prozor-Rama
Whenever you see articles with title “Road trip” you can expect stories from our trips around our homeland, Bosnia and Herzegovina. We use every free moment to explore our country, visiting famous tourist destinations and those known only to the locals. We are always looking for interesting places to visit and we would like to hear it from you, send us information about your hometown or place you discovered!
Once again the call of the road was heard and we pack our bags and went to Prozor- Rama, small town, situated around artificial lake “Rama”. Lake was made from accumulated river Rama and on place where once a town was. When the level of the water drops the remains of the houses, roads and graveyards can be visible. But nonetheless surrounding area and the lake send you to some different time, like you are a part of impressionist painting.
On the middle of the lake is a peninsula with beautiful Franciscan Monastery Rama. We took a walk through green gardens around the monastery, and from there you can enter the lake and watch fishes and ducks swimming in crystal clear water.
But what made our visit spectacular was our host Ivana, who organized boat tour around the lake. At that time water was still cold so we couldn’t swim.
We stayed in small house in Ethno village Remić, located on the hills above the city. Place is well done, with around 5 houses, big restaurant, small church and horse stables that offer recreational riding. What impressed us the most was the clean night sky filled with stars.
After the breakfast we rented tow bicycles and hit the road, which led us through flower fields and old villages.
