Road trip 2#: Prozor-Rama

Whenever you see articles with title “Road trip” you can expect stories from our trips around our homeland, Bosnia and Herzegovina. We use every free moment to explore our country, visiting famous tourist destinations and those known only to the locals. We are always looking for interesting places to visit and we would like to hear it from you, send us information about your hometown or place you discovered!

Once again the call of the road was heard and we packed our bags and went to Prozor- Rama, small town, situated around artificial lake “Rama”. Lake was made from accumulated river Rama, at the place where once a town was. When the level of the water drops the remains of the houses, roads and graveyards are visible. But nonetheless surrounding area and the lake will send you to some different time. Everything looks like an impressionist painting.

On the middle of the lake is a peninsula with beautiful Franciscan Monastery Rama. We took a walk through green gardens of the monastery, from where you can enter the lake, watch fishes and ducks swimming in crystal clear water.

But what made our visit spectacular was our host Ivana, she was the best, even organizing boat tour around the lake. At that time water was still cold so we couldn’t swim.

We stayed in small house in Ethno village Remić, located on the hills above the city. Place is well done, with around 5 houses, big restaurant, small church and horse stables that offer recreational riding. We were impressed with the clean night sky filled with stars. Guess people forget that above all the city’s noise and light pollution lays magnificent starry cover.

After the breakfast we rented two bicycles and hit the road, which led us through flower fields and old villages.
